MONDAY [SWIM]

Swim

8 – 9 pm

(Year-round during school term)

Monday is a 1hr session with a coach on hand to set the agenda. Lanes are responsible for their own timing, and attendees would be expected to be able to swim with some level of competence, but all speeds are catered for with a tailored program.

Please Note: It is a condition of attending the coached swim sessions that attendees must be able to swim a distance of 100 meters continuously. Those that are unsure or think they might need swim tuition to be able to do so, should contact the club to arrange a review. We can offer private swimming lessons if required.

TUESDAY [RUN|YOGA]

Run

Usually, about 6:30 pm

The programme is phased to complement the training and competition calendar. Hill and stamina sessions in the winter with more emphasis on speed work and maintenance in the spring and summer. The sessions are prepared to allow participation by all abilities and to keep the group together for the session, making them suitable for use as recovery sessions after weekend races of any kind.

At a variety of venues around Windsor to suit the type of session for that evening.

Chain gang

Evening

Throughout the summer and even in Winter too, a small group meet at Barry Avenue. In summer, this ride usually splits into groups of similar abilities, the faster group riding at 20mph+ and the slower 17-18mph, both riding for around 75 mins over differing distances. The more social of the group can usually be found in a nearby pub shortly afterwards – apparently refuelling and re-hydrating.

Each week the rides are confirmed using the club email distribution or a WhatsApp group. Similar to the Saturday ride you are expected to be of a reasonable fitness level/cycle skill level before riding with one of the groups. If in doubt, please check with the chairman or one of the coaches.

Thursday [SPIN|TIME TRIAL]

Spin

(Dependent on demand)

Using our club owned spinning bikes and homegrown instructors we have up to two Spin sessions. These are booked in advance through the club distribution email. These sessions are based around intervals of high and low intensity and set to music. When the evenings become light enough we run brick (bike-run interval training) sessions instead. Sign-up is based on a weekly poll and sessions may be added or removed as demand changes

FRIDAY [REST DAY]

SATURDAY [CLUB RIDE]

Club Ride

9 am – 12 noon

We regularly have several levels of a bike ride on a Saturday morning leaving from Barry Ave, Windsor. Rides usually last 3-4 hours, covering 35-60 miles at average speeds from 14-20mph. All rides usually meet afterwards for coffee, gossip and cake at a Windsor cafe. Each week the rides are confirmed using the club email group. Please e-mail or call someone from the contacts page to find out which rides are scheduled and which is most suitable for you.

You are expected to be of a reasonable fitness level/cycle skill level before riding with one of the groups. Please ensure you are self-sufficient with spare tube, tyre levers and pump as a minimum, and your bike is capable of holding together!

If you are new to cycling in a group or are unsure of which ride is most suitable, please feel free to contact us and/or to book onto one of our “Introduction to cycling” session which are run on request by members. It is delivered by one of our accomplished riders on an informal Q&A basis.

SunDAY [LONG RUN]

Informal Run

morning

Each week, a club member will usually offer to lead and host a long run on a Sunday morning. Great motivation for getting out and going that little bit further than ’20mins around the block’. Start locations vary from week to week to try and keep things interesting. Most runs will be between 60-90mins, with loops designed to allow people to pick the point at which they drop out. Each week the host and route is communicated by email. This is a great free way to come and meet a few team members, if you are considering joining BTS.
