Just a few multisport results in October and November, outside of the club’s annual descent into purgatory that is the Human Race Ballbuster Duathlon (which you can read about here, and find out how to best tackle it here)
First up, a quick trip back in time to September and some results left over. 3 podium results no less, across 3 different distances, in 14 days. Lesley Kernaghan showing us all how it is done as usual.
During the month, she ticked off :-
3rd – Bala Standard Distance in 3:04:45 for 3rd in age group
8th – Woburner. Middle Distance. 7:16:29 for 1st in age
17th – Dorney sprint. 1:30:20 for another 1st in age group
Back into October and perhaps as a warm-up to the formentioned Ballbuster, David Dyer travelled to Oulton park for their Standard Distance Autumn Duathlon. Coming home in 2:05:50 was good enough for 10th in the M55-59 Age Group.
Finally, into November. Only one event to report on, but it is an exotic one. Escaping the cold, Paul Fitzpatrick and Kate Robinson travelled just the short hop of a 14hr trip to Thailand. Their destination was the Laguna Phuket Triathlon, an event at which Womens Club Champion Louise Croxson had won her Age Group the year before.
The course covered an 1800m split swim (1200m in the sea, 600m in a Lagoon), 50km bike ride and finally a flat (but brutally hot) 12km run around the hotels and golf course of the resort.
More details on their adventures can be found on Kate’s own blog HERE
Results in summary were a matching set of plastic elephant trophies to fit in a bulging suitcase. Paul taking the Age Group Win in 2:47. Kate, despite having some stomach issues on the run held on from having one of the fastest bike split in her Age Group to take 3rd in 3:28
