50 members of the club met at the Fox and Castle in Windsor for the Annual General Meeting on 3rd February.
Outgoing chairman Julia Hodkinson outlined how the club has developed over the past 5 years, with increasing membership numbers and a range of new coaching sessions and events being added to the weekly rota. She also reported on our new club sponsors, Frog Bikes and Yavico. Their sponsorship will allow lower kit prices on key items and an increase in the subsidy available for races during the year.
Also, a cheque for £2,200 was presented to the Household Cavalry Operational Casualty Fund our chosen charity for 2012.
The Treasurer reported that the club is in good financial health with scope for further investment, for example in spin bikes and an underwater camera.
The key themes of the Men’s and Ladies’ Captains’ reports were not only the advantages of members training and racing together but also the social and support aspects offered by club life.
The Secretary thanked the Committee for all their work over the previous year. Following a request for volunteers each position on the committee has been filled uncontested. See below for the full list.
Incoming chairman, Joe Middleton, spoke about his desire to attract new members, asking every existing member to bring a friend along to the club so they see it in action. He also reminded members that the club is owned and run by members, and he encouraged everyone to get involved in some aspect of the club during the coming year.
There then followed food and a quiz. Nothing too controversial apart from multiple answers by the Americans in the club regarding the question “Give a 3 letter word that represents an IATA airport code in California”
The next social event is “Pie and a Pint” on Saturday 6th April. Book now!
